Social Paddle - Lake Yarrunga
(Tallowa Dam)

WHEN: Sunday 20th November 2011
RSVP: Wednesday 16th November to Sharyn Cahill notifying your intention & indicating what type of craft you will be paddling.
TIME: 8:45am for a 9:00am start
Finish approx. 12:00 noon
WHERE: Meet in the Tallowa Dam picnic area located at Tallowa Dam, situated at the end of Tallowa Dam Road, via Mt Scanzi Road from Kangaroo Valley.

PADDLE DESCRIPTION: Starting from the Tallowa Dam Picnic Area the intention is to paddle up the Shoalhaven river arm of Lake Yarrunga enjoying the spectacular scenery dominated by massive sandstone cliffs of the Lower Shoalhaven Gorge.      See satellite image.
Depending on the skill level and experience of participants, the group paddle to the extremity of the backwater and return (~28km), or explore the equally spectacular lower reaches of the lake.

It is intended to stop for morning tea or a snack at some point during the paddle.
COST: ICC Members - Nil
Non Members $5 to cover PNSW Insurance
CRAFT: Bring your own.

WHAT TO BRING: Suitable canoe or kayak
Suitable paddling clothes including a PFD.
Hat, sunscreen, rash vest, paddling footwear, sunglasses (with retaining strap).
Each participant needs to be self sufficient and carry water/fluids sufficient for a 3-4 hour paddle, morning tea/snacks, basic first aid kit and a spray jacket or other suitable warm top suitable for paddling in should the weather change.
Waterproof bag/container to hold valuables/car keys/phone/camera etc. and a chord to secure this within your craft if needed.
Once the group proceeds up the Shoalhaven river we will be entering a relatively remote wilderness area and must be reasonably self sufficient.
FACILITIES: Tallowa Dam Picnic Area has a toilet block, picnic tables and electric barbeques.
Untreated tap water is available (boil before drinking).
