David Smith wins Silver in K2 1000m at World Championships!
The Australian men's K2 1000m crew of David Smith and Luke Morrison has won silver at the 2009 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Dartmouth, Canada.
Smith (NSW) and Morrison (SA) have been one of Australia’s form crews in 2009 and has won both their heat and semi-final heading into the final on Saturday morning Canadian time.
In the final Smith and Morrison did not let the pressure get to them and they crossed the line in a time of 3:15.809 to claim the silver medal.Spain won the gold in a time of 3:14.610, while the Cuban crew finished in the bronze medal position.After the race Smith was delighted with the result.“We went out a lot harder than we have before and got ourselves into a great position,” Smith said. “We didn’t quite have enough in the tank at the end but even though we couldn’t quite top the Spanish crew a silver medal here is great.”
